The Package
  • Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

The Job Role
 
As an Operations Manager, you will oversee a cluster of education catering sites across the Home Counties, managing an initial portfolio of 6 sites, scaling up to approximately 10 locations.
 
The Operations Manager role will focus primarily on secondary schools, with additional support to primary sites through a central hub kitchen model supplying surrounding locations.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing multi-site education catering operations across hub kitchens and satellite schools
  • Leading and developing site-based teams, driving performance and engagement
  • Building strong client relationships with school stakeholders
  • Ensuring high standards in food quality, service delivery, and compliance
  • Driving commercial performance, including labour and food cost control
  • Supporting mobilisation of new sites, particularly during peak summer periods
  • Working closely with senior leadership, reporting directly into the Account Director
This is a hands-on, dynamic Operations Manager role requiring flexibility, as the position is not a traditional 8-4 role.
 
The Requirements
 
We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual ready to step into an Operations Manager position or currently operating at that level.
Ideal background:
  • Experience within education catering or Business & Industry (B&I)
  • Currently a Group Manager or Senior Manager looking for the next step
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage P&L performance
  • A natural people person with a warm, engaging leadership style
  • Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable managing multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working across multiple sites and diverse client environments
  • A "rising star" mindset with ambition to grow within the business
The Location
 
This Operations Manager role covers the M25 corridor and Home Counties, including:
  • Hertfordshire (St Albans, Berkhamsted)
  • Wendover, Beaconsfield, Chesham, Rickmansworth, Borehamwood
  • Potential inclusion of North Essex (Harlow)
